Welcome to Ackworth School's History of Mining Resource.

Mining has been very important in this area for a long time and it is perhaps very appropriate today that we are often involved in 'mining' for data. It is with this connection in mind that we embarked on these pages which we are entering in the STEM project at the Science Museum.

There are also parallels to be made between the process of searching the Internet and searching in a museum. The more your search is defined, the more likely you are to succeed. We are hoping to offer both data and pointers to other places where more data is stored. In this way we would like to try and help you prepare for a project which could include a visit to the Science Museum.
