Site Guide

We are planning to collect resources from our local (Wakefield\Pontefract) area and present them here.

We would like to include more multimedia resources such as interviews with miners from the past and the present - watch this space!!

Here are two sections from the IT Club - one is about Allerton Bywater Colliery and the other starts with a Manager's Tribute

So far we have one contribution from a student and a few animations from the 1st and 2nd form, plus a new gallery from Neil.

Please explore our first attempts at multimedia! We have used some video footage from Caphouse to try and give some idea how noisy it can be in a mine. In order to avoid large waits for downloads, we have used mini video frames and got the clip sizes down to under 500K. We used a video editor called MGI Videowave - which is excellent. It came free with PC Format magazine. It may install a video compression dll file which is needed to see the video. If the pictures don't appear in your browser, please let us know. We are creating a parallel set of pages with the same data in Quicktime movie format and also working on RealVideo streaming.
