Ackworth School Fibre Install
The ICT infrastructure in our school took a big step forward this week with the installation of a fibre-optic link connecting the two server rooms which are just over 100m apart. Click on images to enlarge - hover over them for a comment!
The first image shows a very old piece of glass installed around 1755 with the junction box containing some very new and very different glass in front of it!
The engineer showed us the first light that passed through the cable. He demonstrated how it would leak out if the radius of the curve of the cable exceeded certain parameters - fascinating!!
