All students at our Junior School make frequent use of computers. There is a set of ten laptops which can be used in the ICT room or taken to other locations and an equal number of workstations spread around the classrooms. They all run XP Pro and are connected to our four Windows 2003 servers. There are four interactive whiteboards. The students also come over to the main school block once a week in Year Six to use the Senior ICT room. This helps the transition to the Senior School.

In the Senior School the students get their ICT provision through the Technology carousel which gives them four lessons a week for one term of Year Seven and Year Eight followed by three periods a week for one term in Year Nine. This is followed by use of ICT in different subject areas. We are currently developing a plan to get every student an ICT Certificate from LondonLearning. There are a variety of machines around the Senior School ranging from Thin Clients through standard XP Pro workstations and some Apples - including a G5.We have a growing number of servers mainly running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 accessed across the whole campus using Broadband-over-the-electrical-network. We believe we are the first school in the world to make use of this technique! The Apple computers are mainly used for design and multimedia work. We have a very well-used cluster of workstations in the library. We have kept our two Citrix Servers in service because they have proved to be very durable and are very fast. Ten of our Thin Clients run off our Linux server and are also very fast and since they use much less energy they may be considered Green! We currently have six interactive whiteboards.

Our internet access is now all via ADSL - there are six lines coming in and although they are currently all rated at 2M they should be up-rated quite soon. We have well over 1500 CDROMs and DVDs which must bring the data capacity of the ICT department up towards that of many libraries. When the online sources are added to the equation it becomes unfair!

In the Sixth Form we are planning to offer ECDL to our students. Although they have almost unlimited access to computers, (there are 37 stations in the IT room and no classes have more than 22 students) this arrangement gives them the ability to plan their use of time.
